All athletes benefit from performance testing. Upon completion of your test, an experienced exercise physiologist will interpret your results to optimize your training. You will receive your test data for your personal reference, or for use with your coach. You will also have the opportunity to discuss future training and racing goals, and how future testing sessions can motivate and guide training. Quarterly or Monthly follow-up tests will help you measure your improvement and provide training guidance training for your chosen events. We offer a variety of testing services to help you avoid the number one mistake athletes make in their training: training at the wrong intensity.

Lactate Threshold is a physiologic balance point. When you exercise below your lactate threshold, you are primarily working on aerobic endurance "base" type training. When you exercise above lactate threshold, you are primarily working on anaerobic power and anaerobic endurance. Both of these types of training are important for endurance athletes at different times during their training and preparation. A lactate threshold test will help you determine training zones that match your physiologic profile and response to graded exercise. Following the test, the athlete is provided with handouts including data and recommendations for training.
Wingate Anaerobic Power Test
One Test: $79 ($29 with Lactate Threshold Test)
Groups of Four: $59/test. Teams or Groups booking their tests together
The Wingate Test (WT) has become one of the most widely used protocols
for determining peak muscle power and reflecting anaerobic capacity.
The WT involves a 3-5 minute warm-up, on a cycle ergometer followed by
a 30 second maximal effort against a constant load. The resistance is
set according to your body weight, and performance is expressed as mean
and peak power as well as fatigue index. This will give you peak and
average wattage, for an approximate distance of 0.2 miles. This test
will help determine your strength in the areas of generating force and
lactate tolerance. A low average power result from this test is a
warning that one needs to improve lactate tolerance.
Body Composition: Skin Caliper Method
One Test: $29The theory behind this technique is that the amount of subcantenous fat is proportional to the total amount of body fat. Approximately 1/3 of total body fat is located subcantenously (below the skin). Skin fold measurements are taken at 7 different sites and then used to calculate an estimated body fat percentage. Follow-up tests will give an accurate measure of how body composition is changing over time.
