Q: Do I need to know what kind of massage I want when I come in for my appointment?
A: No. You and your therapist will discuss your treatment and decide what soft tissue therapy will work the best. As your needs and your body change, so will your massage. Every session starts with a conversation that helps us understand what your specific needs are on that day.
Q: Is it safe to get a massage right before a big race (or game)?
A: Yes - but it will be different than the massage you got two weeks earlier. If you are an athlete, it's important to talk about where you are in your training schedule. Massage is vital to all phases of your training, but the type of work we do will change greatly depending on your performance goals (and competitive schedule).
Q. Will I need to undress? What should I leave on?
A: During your massage you will be covered by a sheet and blanket, and the therapist will uncover only the area of the body that is being treated. Most patients choose to completely undress, as this allows the most effective treatment. Some patients feel more comfortable leaving some clothing on - you are encouraged to undress to whatever extent feels comfortable to you.
Q: Are you handicap accessible?
A: The massage space at Health and
Performance Chiropractic is not handicap accessible, but if you let us
know of your need for special accommodations when you book your
appointment, we will do our best to arrange for your work to be done on
the ground floor.
Q: What type of oil do you use?
A: Revitalizing Oil by Biotone. It is unscented, non-comedogenic (won't clog your pores), and moisturizing. We also have Biotone sensitive skin formula massage creme available for clients who prefer it. If you have allergies or sensitivities and prefer to bring your own oil or lotion to your massage please feel free to do so.
Q: Will I be able to shower after my massage?
A: Showers are not available at Health and Performance Chiropractic. You will be provided with a hand towel to remove extra oil or lotion, and alchoholado is available and can be used to thoroughly clean oil off you skin after your massage.
