Sports Massage -- Sports massage supports athletes in a number of ways. It helps maintain suppleness in soft tissues to minimize tears and strains during training, it helps tissues rebound after intense events by encouraging good circulation and resolving muscle cramps and spasms, and it helps clients manage the emotional and psychological strain of intensive training. Sports massage incorporates kneading techniques, percussive techniques, compression, and active and passive stretching to ready tissues for use or help them recover from strain. Sports massage can be done fully clothed or undressed and draped with oil or lotion. This work can sometimes feel intense, but it should never be painful and it can be a very beneficial part of an athlete's training and maintenance routine.

Deep Tissue massage -- Deep Tissue massage is intended to address specific pain or tension. This work is done with oil or lotion, and can incorporate a number of different massage therapy techniques such as frictioning, static pressure, deep kneading, and stripping. Deep Tissue massage focuses on the places where muscles attach to bone, but also works in the belly of muscles to break down scar tissue and release muscle cramps and spasms. This work can feel intense, but it should never be painful. Deep tissue massage can bring relief from a variety of different aches and pains.

Myofascial Release -- Fascia is a complex supportive web that exists throughout the body. This connective tissue affects all components of the musculoskeletal, nervous and visceral (organ) systems. It surrounds groups of muscle fibers and entire muscle groups and organs.  It is not uncommon for people to develop tiny tears in fascia from accidents, surgeries, prolonged allignment issues or overuse injuries. These tears eventually scar over, potentially knitting fascia to adjacent tissues. Myofascial release breaks these adhesions through the application of slow, gentle stretching techniques. This work can be done through clothes. It is usually done with out oil or lotion, and should feel subtle and relaxing for the client. Bodies respond to this release with increased functional flexibility and mobility, and lessened aches and strains.

Trigger Point Therapy -- Trigger point therapy is a technique which relieves chronic pain from long standing tension. Trigger point therapy works by locating spots in muscles that are chronically contracted. When pressed, these spots will often radiate pain to adjacent areas. Static pressure is applied to these trigger points for a short time, then the muscles are gently stretched. This work increases blood flow in the area and helps relieve cramping. It also alerts the nervous system to the source of tension, encouraging the body's natural healing processes to alleviate the underlying issue. Trigger point work can feel intense, but the relief derived from it is often quite dramatic.

Pin and Stretch -- Pin and stretch techniques recruit client participation for their effectiveness. Specific areas are identified in muscles and tendons where overuse has caused repeated injury, and congestive scar tissue has built up. This scaring can entrap nearby nerves, shorten the potential length of muscles and overtax and inflame tendons. By applying focused pressure while the client performs specific motions to lengthen the tissue in these targeted areas, scars can be broken up and the underlying tissue release. This increases blood flow, reduces nerve pain, improves range of motion, and increases strength. This work is often quite intense, but has excellent benefits for people suffering from chronic injuries and pain.

General Relaxation Massage -- General Relaxation massage is restorative body work that increases physical comfort and promotes the client's sense of well being. The techniques used impart a sense of length and width in tissues and joints, restore the client's sense of calm, help clients feel more "whole" and relieve the discomfort of day to day stress and tension. General relaxation massage is done with light to moderate pressure and is typically done with oil or lotion.
